What can Thai Massage do for you?

Thai massage is an ancient healing technology handed down through tradition for over a thousand years. Although difficult to trace from its origins - the guiding principals passed down from Dr Jivaka Kumar. Traditionally in Thai massage a prayer is offered to Jivaka before treating a patient. Thai Massage combines technique from Yoga, Ayurveda, Acupressure, and the spiritual channelling of healing energy or 'Chi'. Aside for it's spiritual element, a number of scientifically definable beneifits of regular massage include:

  • Improved circulation, vasodilation, and capillary refill.

  • Endocrine regulation* (hormonal) such as reduced Cortisol (stressor,) and vasopressin (aggression.) Increased production of Oxytocin which is often referred to as the 'love' hormone, and is responsible for bonding in mammals.

  • Relives chronic pain, muscular tension which may help regulate mood disorders. In the same way this is a fantastic choice for non-drug treatments for Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritius and other pain-type disorders.**

  • Look & feel amazing! - in randomised control trials where participants had either 1, 2, or no massages a week for a period of 8 weeks; showed the massage group had better posture, less pain & fatigue, visibly better mood compared to the control group.
